Foundation Learning 16-18

You will work towards achieving an Entry Level 3 or Level 1 CerItificate in Caring for Children.

On this course you will develop the skills and knowledge needed to care for children. The course will also support you to develop the work life skills needed for future progression into employment in the field of childcare.  Topics you will study and research include, for example

• The physical care of chidlren
• Providing play and learning activities for children
• Keeping children safe
• Communicating with children

Dental Nursing (Oral Health)

Apprenticeship

This course is available only to Dental Nurses working in a Dental Practice.  You will achieve the following units of NVQ Dental at Level 3.

• Ensure your own actions reduce the risk to health and safety
• Reflect on and develop your practice
• Provide Basic Life Support
• Prepare and maintain environments, instruments and equipment for clinical dental procedures
• Offer information and support to individuals on the protection of their oral health
• Contribute to the production of dental radiographs
• Provide chair side support ensuring the prevention and control of periodontal disease and caries, and the restoration of cavities
• Provide chairshide support during the provision of fixed and removal appliances
• Provide chair side support during non surgical endodontic treatment
• Provide chair side support during the extraction of teeth and minor surgery
• Communication Level 2
• Application of Number Level 2
• Study towards passing a Technical Certificate Level 3 (external examination)
